Legal use
Atomix Productions defines professional use as earning money with VirtualDJ. That needs a Pro license at $19 a month. Free is for someone who is not paid and who does not use a controller. Home, at $4 a month, covers entry-level controllers at home and is not for a paid or public event. Business is $99 a month.
A license stays on the email that bought it. It cannot be sold, gifted, or moved. The publisher says codes from auctions and classifieds will not register, and that a seller other than the publisher is a scam.
The software license is not a music license. The publisher's own FAQ asks whether you need a public performance license. If you play other people's tracks in public, that permission comes from the rights holders or a performing-rights organization, not from this site and not from installing VirtualDJ. Streaming catalogs have their own terms.

02
Ethical use
Do not pass a Pro login to another DJ so they can play a paid gig on your account. Do not install a modified build that claims to remove the license check. Do not ship a serial inside a zip with the installer.
Ask the DJ and the catalogs move requests and audio under those services' rules. Use them for a gig you are hired to play, not to scrape a catalog onto a drive.
03
Source transparency
VirtualDJ is proprietary. Atomix Productions does not publish the application source. There is no public repository for the mixer, and this site will not pretend there is one.
What is public is the changelog: build numbers, dates, and the lines that changed. Build 9729 is 22 October 2026 and adds Apple Music. The Windows MSI size and SHA256 on the download page come from a public listing of that build, not from a hash printed by the publisher. That distinction stays on the page so the number is not dressed up as an official signature.
rekordbox.dev is a reference for those facts. It is not Atomix Productions, and it does not sell licenses.
04
No malware, stated carefully
The program people mean by VirtualDJ is the build from Atomix Productions. A file that is much smaller than 563.18 MB, or that arrives with a cracked serial, is a different file. Do not run it.
Add-ons from the Extensions list are checked by the publisher before they are posted. The same note says antivirus can flag one of those files anyway. Allow that install only when you started it from inside VirtualDJ. A warning on a random download is a reason to stop.
Softonic's written reviews average 3.9 from 39 reviews on the older 8.5.9644.0 package. That number is theirs. This site does not attach a star rating to the installer.

Your responsibility
You choose the tracks, the venue, and the license. You confirm the file size and the hash. You keep the computer able to finish the set, including pre-rendering stems when the GPU is not up to Stems 2.0. rekordbox.dev explains the published facts. It does not operate the gig, insure the gear, or grant rights in the music.
